The US Federal Trade Commission states that most textile and wool products require labels identifying fiber content, country of origin and the manufacturer or another responsible business. Importers should verify how the rules apply to each product.
Control fiber information at component level
Lingerie may combine fabrics, lace, lining, elastic and supporting components. Buyers should obtain accurate composition data and determine how applicable labeling rules treat the complete product.
Confirm country-of-origin information
The origin statement should be based on the applicable rules and actual production facts. It should remain consistent across labels, packaging, commercial documents and product listings.
Identify the responsible business correctly
Determine whether a company name or Registered Identification Number is used and verify the permitted format. Artwork should not be approved before the responsible entity confirms the data.
Use an artwork approval checklist
Record style, size, language, composition, origin, care information, responsible-business identity, version and placement. Reapprove artwork whenever product facts change.
US lingerie labels should be built from verified product facts and reviewed by the responsible importer or brand before production.
