Digital Product Passport 2026: What Lingerie Brands Should Prepare

Compliance Updates

A digital product passport is a product-data tool, not a certificate of quality. Lingerie brands can prepare useful records now without claiming that every garment already needs a passport. Start with reliable information about each style. Then check which product-specific rules apply before setting a launch deadline.

Check the digital product passport requirements

The EU framework links passport duties to applicable product rules. The European Commission textiles strategy explains the wider policy direction. However, a policy roadmap or registry launch is not proof that all lingerie has the same compliance deadline.

Therefore, ask your compliance adviser to identify the relevant legal act, product scope and date. Record the source and review date beside the decision. Keep this legal check separate from the supplier’s technical data collection.

Build one record for each style

Record Practical starting point Review owner
Product identity Style, version and colour codes Brand product team
Materials Component list and supporting documents Sourcing team
Claims Exact wording and evidence scope Compliance reviewer
Changes Approved substitution history Quality team

Include fabric, lining, elastic, foam and hardware where relevant. Do not copy the main fabric composition onto every component. Instead, mark unknown fields as pending. This makes missing information visible before artwork or product listings go live.

Control evidence and supplier changes

Ask suppliers to connect each document to a material code or order. Also record whether it covers a raw material, process or finished garment. A general brochure rarely supports a precise product claim.

Next, agree how suppliers will report substitutions. Review new fabric or trim evidence before approving a change. Keep the original version so your team can trace which information supported each shipment. Use the private-label brief to align this work with sampling.

Prepare access without exposing private data

A digital product passport project should distinguish public product information from confidential supplier files. Decide who can edit, approve and view each field. In addition, test how records remain available when staff or vendors change. Do not publish contracts or personal contact details merely to fill a data field.

Discuss your product-record brief with CNBRAS. Share the market, style scope and documents you need. Availability requires project confirmation. This article offers sourcing preparation, not legal advice or a claim of passport certification.
