How to Start a Lingerie Brand with a Private Label Manufacturer

OEM & Private Label

Starting a lingerie brand requires more than choosing attractive products. A sourcing-ready plan connects the target customer, initial assortment, fit expectations, branding and commercial limits before a private label manufacturer is asked to quote.

Define the customer and sales channel

State the destination market, intended customer, price position and sales channel. A boutique, online brand and multi-store retailer may need different product depth, packaging and replenishment plans.

Build a focused launch assortment

Start with a controlled number of silhouettes, colors and size groups. Give each style a role such as everyday core, lace fashion, coordinated set or wireless comfort instead of selecting several nearly identical products.

Choose the right development route

Clarify whether you need an existing reference style with branding, modifications to an existing base or full custom development. The required samples, technical information, cost and timing depend on that scope.

Prepare brand and packaging assets

List the main label, size label, care label, hangtag, packaging and barcode requirements. Identify which artwork is final and which elements still need supplier input.

Send a complete sourcing brief

Include product references, colors, sizes, quantity, destination, target timing and approval responsibilities. Ask for product-specific MOQ, sample and quotation information rather than assuming one standard applies to every style.

Key takeaway

A strong lingerie launch brief balances brand direction with a realistic first assortment and a clearly defined private label scope.
