Lace

Review motif, edge, transparency, stretch, recovery and how the lace is supported or lined. Confirm color across lace, elastic, lining and thread on the completed sample.

Microfiber and smooth knits

Consider these materials when the design needs a smooth surface and stretch. Buyers should specify the intended use and approve the actual weight, opacity, recovery and finish offered for the style.

Mesh and lining

Mesh can serve visual or structural roles depending on the construction. State coverage and transparency expectations and review the relationship between outer material and lining.

Elastic and supporting components

Band elastic, straps, binding, closures, wire channels, foam and other components affect fit and durability. Include them in the material and sample approval record.

Use traceable references, approved colors and defined tests where required. Record proposed substitutions and obtain approval before the supplier changes a confirmed order.

First, give every swatch and garment sample a traceable reference. Record the supplier’s stated composition and construction separately from results that a laboratory has verified. Ask for the method and sample identity behind any performance claim.

Next, compare color, opacity and hand feel under consistent review conditions. Use the sample checklist to connect loose materials with finished garments. List unresolved details in your private label brief. Finally, send your material requirements with the intended use and target market. Confirm actual options and any necessary testing before approval. Fabric names alone cannot establish compliance, durability or comfort for the finished product.
